With a new year comes a chance to create something new, something unique, something meaningful and something personal.
For years I struggled with what I wanted my self-image to be and how I wanted to present myself. Growing up I was what most would consider a tomboy, preferring pants over dresses and sneakers over heels. College was the first time I really had the opportunity to explore who I was. As a newly minted member of the LGBTQ+ community I had a chance to reinvent the way I presented myself to others. It was the first of many steps in the lifelong journey towards my most authentic self. Since then, my self-expression has changed throughout the years and it wasn’t until I was picking out an outfit for our wedding, that I realized that I didn’t have to look or dress the way that other’s expected me. That was a really empowering revelation for me.
That’s my hope here. To empower. To showcase that masculine presenting and androgynous women are sexy. To shine a light on the beauty that can be found within the trans community. To help members of the LGBTQ+ community find their true self and in that find some peace, healing and self-love.
